On the third day of Christmas Direct2mum gave to me.......
A beautiful handcrated breastfeeding necklace!
Here we go with day three of our fabulous '12 days of Christmas Giveaway' and today's competition is for a beautiful handcrafted breastfeeding necklace from Babybeads UK
Jo successfully created babybeads-uk over 6 years ago. Jo hand-crafts unique breastfeeding necklaces and reminder bracelets specifically with safety at the forefront in order to make feeding your baby a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Her baby was very easily distracted whilst breastfeeding, he would also pinch her, pull her hair and other unpleasant things like pull at her top to expose her in public. He was also fascinated with her jewellery, but after breaking one necklace she was unable to wear any. Jo looked into the idea of a safe necklace that was strong enough for her baby to pull on and be stimulating enough to engage him. Jo experimented with the use of colour, texture and shape of beads, and found great success with him and her own feeding experience. Other mum's saw her necklace and how relaxed her baby was when feeding. Jo started making them to order. The concept quickly took off and she found myself running a very successful small business with over 3000 happy customers world wide.
It soon became apparent that Jo's necklaces had other uses. They became a bonding tool that Dad or Granny etc could wear around their neck whilst the baby played with the beads. They also became invaluable for the bottle fed baby.
As Jo's son grew up and stopped breast feeding he taught her different and unique ways in which his necklaces could be used. We played games with them, talking about colours, shapes and different themed beads. Jo attached them to his pushchair, car seat, supermarket trolley and he would play with them, feeling the beads or ringing the bells. They occupied him whilst waiting in queues.
Jo's son is now 7 and still a huge fan! He takes every opportunity to wear them, and uses them to tow his trucks around! He has several of his own, and although he understands that Jo makes them for other people's babies Jo thinks he is a little sad to see them go.
All necklaces are safety tested and conform to BS EN71 (1995) + A1 +AC1 Part 3, EN71 (2005) A9 Part 1 & EN71 (2005) Part 1 standards.
