Penelope Cruz’s publicist has confirmed the actress will not travel to Spain to attend the Goya awards. The star of films such as "Gothika" and "Nine" is in the running for the best leading actress honour, but is pregnant with her second child.
On hearing she'd been nominated for her work on the movie "All the Pretty Horses", the popular performer said she was ''extremely happy and very excited'', but did not want to travel on an extended flight due to her pregnancy.
The new baby will be the second child for the actress and Javier Bardem, her husband of two years, who most recently played the villain in the new Bond movie Skyfall. Their first child, Leo, turned two in January.
Cruz explained her feelings on being a mother: ''From the first second, you feel so much love. It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever.''
The couple had known each other for many years before they began dating in 2007 and were married three years later in a private service.
