In a complete break with usual royal mother-to-be tradition, Kate Middleton shows that she is an independent-thinking young duchess after she reportedly told friends that she is going home to live with mum Carole after her and Will's baby is born.
The future king or queen of Britain will begin life within the home of a commoner rather than a royal palace as Kate has decided to spend at least the first six weeks of the new arrival's life with her parents in Berkshire.
Kate and the little one will not want for anything, however, in her parents' new £4.85m home. This new generation of royal will not be employing a maternity nurse to help her with the baby, preferring to keep the child in the family. Intimating that this is where she feels safe and secure, Kate is looking forward to beginning her journey as a mother with her own mum to hand for support and guidance.
With asbestos being recently discovered during William and Kate's new Kensington Palace apartment renovations, going home to mum after giving birth is a natural choice. After all the publicity surrounding Kate's pregnancy, this will be a rest well earned.
