The moment we have all been waiting for; the Royal baby is finally here.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge yesterday welcomed their son, who has yet to be named. The child was born at 4.24pm and weighed 8lbs6oz.
The couple were able to keep the birth secret until after 8pm, giving them peace and tranquillity with their precious newborn.
The official announcement (as tradition states) was made through the presentation of an official document, framed, on an easel outside Buckingham Palace. Hundreds of people gathered around to take photographs and remember this moment in the history of our Monarchy.
Prince Charles was on a visit to Yorkshire when the announcement was made, and is said to be 'thrilled and excited'.
Prince William released a statement yesterday saying the couple "could not be happier, and "mother and son are doing fine".
Prince William remained by his wife's side throughout the labour and birth, at the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in London; the same hospital where he and his brother were born.
Specialists have visited the Duchess this morning, and their departure from the hospital is expected imminently.
To the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Direct2Mum wish you all the happiness in the world with your new son, and we wish him a lifetime of health and joy.
