Pregnant Zara Phillips has revealed that she has filled the gap left by giving up riding with baking to relieve the boredom of being less active than she is used to.
Zara, who is expecting her first child with husband Mike Tindall early in the New Year, gave up riding when it became too uncomfortable rather than due to pressure on her to stop.
The three day eventer, who won silver with Team GB at the London Olympics, said: "It’s so uncomfortable. So now I’m just on the ground yelling at everyone." She also said that she will be back in the saddle soon after giving birth, and that getting used to a less active lifestyle has been a bit tricky: "I have been a bit bored. I’m used to being on the go and active the whole time, and now it’s quite different. So, yes, I’m baking. I love cooking and will definitely cook for the baby."
Zara and Mike have decided not to find out the sex of the baby, wanting it to be a surprise, and Tindall admits that they haven’t done much preparation for the new arrival: "We’ve not sorted a nursery yet. We have ordered some stuff, but we haven’t gone further than that.”
